Generation X

This is a small poem written by me as a part of my English project. The way people see generation X and what we really are. A few of my views are summed up in this poem :)

Generation X, the name they gave us,
Foreseen to fail, they described us rebellious
They said, "Diamonds, jewellery and all the fashion,
Only this is the Gen X's passion.

Salsa and tango is all they do,
Shouldn't they spend some time praying too?
'P.S. I Love You' and 'Twilight' are in
All these kids have forgotten Huckleberry Finn.

Metallica and Iron Maiden are worshiped like God
All they dream is of settling abroad
Danglers, nail art, guitar and rock,
After all, what else is school for?"

But dear friends, I tell them
Gen X is like a transparent gem
Torn jeans, cricket and Shakira are not all we think about,
We are the future and we are going to make our parents proud.

We also care about climate change,
Removing poverty and hunger is our life's aim
Rich and poor, good or bad
Gen X is above all that.
